Happy Cinco de Mayo!
What is Cinco de Mayo?
Cinco de Mayo is a great day for celebrating and enjoying some Mexican cuisine with a tasty margarita! Although widely celebrated in the U.S., most people aren't aware of the historical significance of Cinco de Mayo and confuse it with Mexican Independence Day.
Actually, Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that celebrates the victory of the Mexican army over the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, proving that Mexico was capable of defending itself against European powers. Although it is primarily celebrated in Mexico's Puebla state, it has become a popular holiday in the United States, particularly among Mexican-Americans where it is often associated with Mexican-American culture and heritage.
The day is marked with parades, parties, traditional Mexican food, and music, and serves as a symbol of Mexican pride and unity.
How do I celebrate Cinco de Mayo?
Cinco de Mayo is also an occasion to enjoy delicious Mexican food. I would like to share my favorite spot for Mexican food. And I would love to hear about your favorite taco spots in the comments section so I can try them all!
I love the chicken mole (pollo mole) and true to their name, they make a mean house margarita :)
